Shaun Ahmad is a Credit Analyst for Oak View National Bank and a Freelance Writer. He is an American-Muslim with Pakistani heritage. Shaun resides in Warrenton, Virginia.
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Shaun was born in Fairfax, Virginia on to Mohammad and Rahat Ahmad. He is a first generation American-Pakistani with one younger sister. Shaun's father worked for over thirty years at Giant Food, Inc., an east-coast supermarket chain, where he served as Manager. His father passed away on February 19th, 2007. Shaun's mother, a former University Professor and Microbiologist gave up her career after his birth. She remains active in community volunteering for their local Mosque by raising awareness on health issues and organizing free health screenings for those that cannot afford it.
Shaun was raised in Chantilly, Virginia and attended Chantilly High School where he was on the National Honor Society and Future Business Leaders of America. He led an active youth with a mix of education, sports, and religion. He was raised as a Muslim.
After graduating high school in 2002 with an Advanced Diploma, Shaun attended Virginia Tech University and majored in Business Management at the Pamplin College of Business. He graduated in December of 2007.
Finance and Banking
Shortly after graduating college, Shaun was hired as a Financial and Management Analyst at AAL CPAs, an accounting and consulting firm in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. He spent nearly seven years working for the firm and rose through the ranks quickly, assuming greater managerial roles. During his time with AAL, he traveled to over 35 states across the country performing and overseeing various financial compliance audits on behalf of different government agencies, such as the Small Business Administration (SBA). He was involved in the review of over 250 financial institutions, ranging from the largest banks in the country (JP Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Bank of America) to mid-sized and smaller community banks. Prior to his departure in the summer of 2013, he had been promoted to Director of Business Development and was responsible for sustaining and growing the firm.
In July of 2013, Shaun was hired as the Credit Analyst at Oak View National Bank, an emerging community bank in Fauquier County. He is directly responsible for analyzing credit and financial reports to determine risk involved in loaning money or extending credit, and scrutinizing financial data such as market share, income growth, and management quality to decide if loans will be lucrative. He reports to Chief Credit Officer and President.
In 2008, it was recommended to Shaun that he begin a sports blog to share his knowledge and passion. He started an independent blog which found quick success. Soon, he was asked by various reputable blog sites to contribute his work and continue to grow his network. The audience and traffic to his website increased, ultimately resulting in FOX Sports to syndicate his blog. Shaun expanded his realm of writing by becoming a writer for Wizards Extreme and Hoops District, two media credentialed sites that covered the Washington Wizards' professional basketball team. With a media pass, Shaun attended several games with duties that included interviewing coaches and players.
After years of sports writing, Shaun looked to expand his scope and began writing on various topics, including religion, politics, and business. He has had several of his articles posted in national publications, including CNN, Sun Sentinel and the Coleman Report with circulations in excess of 500,000 readers. With the launch of his personal website, he will post articles and blog entries independently.
Shaun lives in Warrenton, Virginia and enjoys the lifestyle associated with the suburb of Washington, D.C. He has goals of continuing to be dedicated to his wife and family, his religion, a career in both banking as well as journalism, and volunteering in the community.
